Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Telouat Kasbah – Ait Ben Haddou – Ounila Valley – Ouarzazate
Your adventure begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8:30 AM.
We leave the city behind and drive through the impressive High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), the highest mountain pass in Morocco.
Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of mountain landscapes and traditional Berber villages. We will stop at scenic viewpoints for photos before continuing to the beautiful Telouat Kasbah, an ancient fortress that once belonged to the powerful Glaoui family.
After visiting the kasbah, enjoy free time for lunch before continuing through the spectacular Ounila Valley, known for its remote villages, colorful landscapes, and traditional adobe houses.
In the afternoon, we arrive at Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most famous landmarks. This ancient fortified village has been used as a filming location for many famous movies, including Gladiator, The Mummy, and Sahara.
Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert.”

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Merzouga Desert – Camel Ride & Berber Camp
After breakfast, we depart toward the Sahara Desert through the beautiful Draa Valley, home to one of Morocco’s longest rivers and thousands of palm trees.
Enjoy stops along the way to admire ancient kasbahs, Berber villages, and breathtaking desert scenery.
After lunch in Nkob or Alnif, we continue toward Merzouga and the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes.
Upon arrival, we begin our camel trek into the heart of the Sahara Desert. Ride across the golden dunes while watching the sunset before reaching your traditional desert camp.
At the camp, enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner, Berber music around the fire, and an unforgettable night beneath the stars.
Overnight: Berber Desert Camp
Day 3: Merzouga Desert Exploration – Nomadic Families – Tissardmin Oasis – Khamlia Village – Erg Chebbi
Wake up early to experience a magical Sahara sunrise from the top of a dune.
After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel and begin a full-day desert exploration.
Today we discover the hidden treasures of the Sahara, including:
- The impressive Erg Chebbi dunes
- Nomadic settlements and traditional desert lifestyle
- Tissardmin Oasis and fossil areas
- Desert viewpoints overlooking the dunes
- Khamlia Village, famous for Gnawa spiritual music
Enjoy a relaxing Moroccan tea while listening to a traditional Gnawa music performance.
The afternoon is free to relax at your accommodation, explore the dunes, or enjoy the sunset.
Dinner and overnight: Hotel in Merzouga
Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani Market – Erfoud Fossils – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
After breakfast, we leave the Sahara and travel toward the impressive landscapes of the eastern High Atlas Mountains.
Our first stop is Rissani, a historic town famous for its traditional market. If the day matches the market schedule, you can experience the lively atmosphere of local traders.
Continue to Erfoud, where you can visit workshops producing beautiful fossil and marble creations.
We then travel through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad before reaching the spectacular Todra Gorges.
The Todra River has carved a dramatic canyon surrounded by towering cliffs, making it one of Morocco’s most beautiful natural sites and a popular destination for climbers.
Enjoy free time for lunch and a short walk through the gorge.
In the afternoon, continue to the Dades Valley, also known as the Valley of Figs, and admire the famous rock formations known as the “Monkey Fingers.”
Dinner and overnight: Dades Valley
Day 5: Dades Valley – Roses Valley – Skoura Palm Grove – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After breakfast, enjoy one of the most beautiful viewpoints overlooking the Dades Valley, where you can admire the impressive landscape filled with kasbahs and mountain scenery.
Continue along the famous Road of 1,000 Kasbahs, passing through the beautiful Valley of Roses and the large Skoura Palm Grove.
Arrive in Ouarzazate where you can visit:
- Taourirt Kasbah, former residence of the Glaoui family
- Cinema studios and the cinema museum (optional)
After lunch, begin the return journey to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains.
Enjoy several photo stops along the way as the landscape changes from desert scenery to colorful mountain views.
Arrival in Marrakech around 6:00 PM.
